Camper Project

The time has come to consider new possibilities. As people who aren’t big on vacations, we’ve let many opportunities slip by. And now we’re not exactly so eager to travel that we’d want to visit all six continents anytime soon. But we still want to get out of our own four walls more often and discover something new. Why not do it with the comfort of our own “hotel” on wheels?

It seems like the time is right to think about getting a camper.

Start With Why

Always start with ‘why’! (Simon Sinek) Why is it a great idea tho think aout a camper van? What is the innermost motivation to start a venture of this scale?

Spontaneos trip and overnight stay (since we are usually not so good with planning ahead)

SWOT

Strengths

  • We do something together, we do holidays together
  • Fun building it (according to our wishes, needs and possibilities)
  • Fun using it
  • We get out into the nature, as spontanous as we want

Weaknesses

  • Lots of work

Opportunities

  • Spontaneus recreation
  • A common project to work together and enjoy the process of creating it as well as spending time together in nature
  • uncomplicated vacation, any time

Threats

  • The never ending project
  • Costs are much higher than anticipated
  • We don’t like it as much as we thought and there is an asset just lingering around with no use

Where to begin with?

Must Haves

  • Solar Pannel + Battery (plenty!) see: 375 Watt Solarpanel
  • Garbage compartment (no little trash bags everywhere)
  • The camper should have a well-hidden safe that is welded to the vehicle frame.

Wanna Haves

  • Air Conditioning (heat and cool) with HEPA filter and dehumidifier for the night (there needds to be plenty of battery capacity!)
  • Ceramic filter to take up fresh water from anywhere (Katadyn) and a sufficiently large cistern. (Place the extendable hose in a nearby stream and fill the cistern with safe drinking water.)
